An Oscar for Sign Language
6 March 2018
British actress Rachel Shenton has been praised for delivering her Oscars speech in sign language after she made a promise to her deaf six-year-old co-star, Maisie Sly.
The 30-year-old actress won the Oscar for 'Best Live Action Short' for her film The Silent Child. The film tells the story of a deaf child born into a hearing family.
Shenton wrote and starred in the movie, which was inspired by her late father's battle with deafness.
Youmanity applauds Rachel Shenton for promoting social inclusion at such a high profile event.
