Are you in full gear for Inclusion Week
30 July 2016
Inclusion, cultural diversity and equality are dimensions much discussed these days, yet to be fully practiced in the work place. At its most basic level, it is about ensuring that no one feels left out because of their age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, maternity (and Paternity), or other equally important social issues. Ultimately an inclusive working environment allows people to be themselves at work - obviously, within reason and as regulated by relevant laws.
To this end, the ‘Inclusive Employers’ organize a ‘National inclusion Week’ (26 Sept – 2ND Oct), to raise awareness of the importance of inclusion in the workplace and the business benefits to having an inclusive workforce. And to make sure employers get it right, a member of the Inclusive Employers’ team is at hand to run a workshop in your workplace or as an open event for various people and organisations.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INCLUSION, DIVERSITY AND EQUALITY AT WORK?
Diversity in the workplace can have numerous benefits for employers as well as employees. Put simply, the greater the mix of people in your business, the greater the mix of skills, experiences, perspectives and ideas you can draw on.
One model employer is the Metropolitan Police whose work force is one of the most diverse and effective in the world.
