Domestic abuse up 65% with Covid-19
31 March 2020
With the Covid-19 lockdown there are warnings that 'self-isolation' for many means having to share confined spaces with abusing family members and/or people.
The BBC reports that in the UK, calls to the national abuse hotline went up by 65% the weekend of 28-29/03. Meanwhile, the UN has warned that women in poorer countries and smaller homes will be living a greater predicament as well as putting their lives at risk by having to live in close proximity with violent abusers.
Please report anyone whom you know to be acting abusively towards family member by phoning 101 and/or 999 if necessary. You can report any crime anonymously.
