Friend-Ship gets Gold
Youmanity won the Gold Atul Pathak Community Award at a reception in Parliament. The event was hosted by Atul Pathak OBE, Managing Director of Appt Corporation, the largest McDonald’s franchise in the UK, employing over 3,000 people.
The Awards were set up in 2013 to celebrate the work of charities and community groups, they include cash grants and ongoing support to help their local work.
This year the 'Atul Pathak Community Partnership Award Gold' went to Youmanity. A grant of £1500 was awarded in support of our up-coming suicide prevention campaign ‘Friend-Ship’, together for the Journey.
Atul Pathak OBE commented:
“Giving something back to the community is woven into the DNA of my business. That’s why the Community Awards are such a joy to host and it’s humbling to find, celebrate and reward people and organisations who give so much to their communities. It's also a pleasure to give them cash grants plus ongoing support to help their work too!
“Youmanity was such a strong contender for the Awards and I hope the support we are giving will help them to achieve their goals. My message to them is keep up the great work!”
Angelo Iudice, Youmanity’s founder and chairman, also commented:
“Youmanity is a charity run entirely by volunteers whose work and dedication is reflected in all projects delivered throughout the year. We are working hard to raise awareness of suicide prevention with a project that will encourage society to connect with friends, whether long-lost friends, relatives or anyone we sense is without caring support. Entitled 'Friend-Ship, Together for the Journey', this project will ask people to celebrate friends by taking a photograph that embodies this important connection between friends. A selection of these photographs will then be printed and showcased in an exhibition open to the public in December 2019.
