New Face of Monarchy
The wedding of Harry and Meghan has made history on so many levels. First and foremost, it has broken racial barriers by embracing black culture in a sensitive and sensible way.
Bishop Michael Curry’s address was evocative of Martin Luther King.
“BISHOP MICHAEL CURRY GIVING ME LIFE,” tweeted the model Naomi Campbell.
To add a further note of authenticity, a black gospel choir sang This Little Light of Mine. There was elegant symbolism entwined in the ceremony as there were important elements of the Commonwealth, past, present and future.
“A beautiful service and a beautiful couple. Making my beautiful mixed heritage family’s shoulders stand a little taller,” tweeted the Labour MP David Lammy.
Is Meghan Markle the American the royals have needed all along?
Youmanity hopes that Harry and Meghan's union may signal the beginning of a more harmonious society. With crime figures dangerously on the up during a depressing post-Brexit Britain, together with the Windrush fiasco, this royal wedding has done an incredible job towards what remains a complex a process of change.
Now it is up to each and every one of us to move forward, to help those still affected by racial issues in socially deprived areas, not far from Windsor Castle.
