Over 1,400 same-sex couples tied the knot

More than 1,400 same-sex couples tied the knot in the first three months since the gay marriage law was passed in England and Wales.
New figures have revealed there has been a steady increase in the number of couples choosing to marry since the law was introduced in March.
Of the 1,409 marriages that took place between March 29 and June 30, 56 per cent were between female couples and 44 per cent were male.
