Social Inclusion Week
Social Inclusion Week is a time to reflect on the importance of human diversity. Everyone should feel valued and appreciated for who they are. All must be given an opportunity to contribute to society.
What Social Inclusion Week should NOT be, is yet another ‘ticking box’ exercise for companies to show they are doing the ‘right’ thing.
Social inclusion should connect family and friends EVERY DAY. It should also help colleagues working from impersonal and open plan offices respect one another. Good Samaritans, don’t answer just emergency phone lines. Good people, colleagues are those who make you feel good about yourself. They are the people who make sure you don’t always sit in a corner, marginalised by others.
Again, social inclusion needs to take place, with good actions, every day not just a week per year.
