Theatres must do more to embrace ethnic diversity

Award-winning star of 12 Years a Slave Chiwetel Ejiofor has warned British theatres that they must do more to promote ethnic diversity among playwrights and performers if they want to stay relevant.
The British actor, who gained an Oscar nomination for his performance in the 2013 adaptation of an American slave’s memoir, said there was “much still to do” to improve the representation of non-white artists on stage and behind the scenes.
