Through thick and thin

World War 2 was the deadliest military conflict in history. Over 60 million people were killed with dire consequences for the civilian population. However, even at times of real hardship it is incredible how the human spirit can survive and positive values of brotherhood and solidarity can flourish, resulting in warmth, empathy and long lasting friendship.

Celebrated photographer Ly Hoang Long happened to be in France on 6th June 2010 for the 2010 anniversary of D-Day. He was able to capture unique moments of when Veternas saw one another to remember the many friends who lost their lives in WW2.
 

“I was pretty lucky to be in Normandy right on the 66th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. I was impressed by the veteran's emotions when they met their brothers in arms and recalled history together,” said Ly Hoang Long.
