Transgender speaks out in Bruxelles
Transgender campaigner and model Maxim Magnus stated to the London Evening Standard that “trans is not a trend and must be properly accepted by society", as she prepares to address the European Parliament on the subject.
The London-based 20-year-old has become a face for the transgender community after being signed as a model by agency Linden Staub.
Speaking about her trip to Brussels this month, Magnus said: “I want to talk about what can be done to change legislation. I want to use this platform to speak out for my kind. It’s about acceptance of people. It’s about educating young people.”
Maxim, originally from Belgium, told how she was bullied as a teenager “for being me”, and added: “It’s important trans is not seen as a trend. It’s not a subculture.
“I hope designers and magazines want to embrace me as a person and not because I am trans.”
Youmanity congratulates Maxim also in the hope she may shed some light on a controversial myth: why do Transexuals, who spend a lifetime convincing psychiatric they were women 'trapped' in a man's body, must tell the whole world they were once men.
