Anti-Slavery Day
18 October 2016
On Anti-Slavery Day we remember the migrants who left their loved ones behind in search for a better life.
Nearly three-quarters of the migrants travelling from North Africa to Europe have experienced exploitation, falling victims of slavery and trafficking.
Youmanity also remembers the many thousands who died at sea this year alone as they searched for a better life in Europe.
Anti-Slavery Day was created in 2010 by a Private Members Bill introduced by Anthony Steen CBE, then MP for Totnes. Since then it has grown significantly and each year more and more charities and people take action to mark Anti-Slavery Day.
